
Monitoring and Pain Control
Anesthetics and critical care cases are monitored with a 5 way Cardell Veterinary Vital Signs unit to constantly monitor the patient's:
- Electrocardiogram
- Heart rate
- Respiratory rate
- Body temperature
- Blood pressure
- Oxygen saturation ( SpO2/ Pulse-Ox)
Patients pain levels are scored on the initial examination and are treated at 3 levels of intensity.
- Level 1 (mild pain) –NSAID or low dose opioid
- Level 2 (moderate pain)-NSAID and opioid bolus
Or low regional anesthesia or analgesia - Level 3 (severe pain)- Opioid bolus or infusion
